This article is about the decrease of hearing loss in young teens by using headphones. It connects with me because I use headphones everyday, and all night while I am sleeping. I need to listen to music to fall asleep, and I used to listen to it very loud. I would wake up with ringing in my ears, and that's when I knew that I could seriously damage my hearing if I kept it up. The rate of hearing loss in young teens from 12-19 has dropped from 22.5 % in 2007-2008 to 15.2% in 2009-2010, according to a study, in JAMA Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. An assistant professor at the University of California, San Francisco, Dr. Chan, attributed the improvement to knowledgeable changes, such as avoiding noise and wearing volume limiting headphones made for children. Hopefully, the rate continues to get lower and lower and people don't continually abuse their ears listening to music at full volume.

1. In this article, professor of atmospheric science Michael E. Man, discusses the critical impact of recent political events and the actions needed to lower rates of global warming. Beginning with Trump's executive order on March 28, global warming studies are threatened and unable to properly report climate change damages. Trump and other congressmen will ignore global warming however evidence has shown that global warming threatens our planet. According to reports by Mission 2020, we need to lower the rate of greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 to maintain global warming below 1.5°C. An assortment of actions must occur in order to lower temperatures. If by 2020 renewable energy is dominant in every major energy markets, countries commit to the transportation system, transmission infrastructures are built out of low carbon energy systems, lower rates of deforestation, restoration of land completed, all 500 companies commit to Paris targets, mission reduction plans are in effect, and capital markets double investment in zero emission technologies, then according to scientists our safe future is guaranteed. Although this list is hefty, we are already on track as global carbon emissions have steadied due to China's economic transformation in renewable energy production. Micheal E. Man concludes that 2020 will be a critical year. I chose this article because global warming is a well known topic that will affect our futures.

Hawkeye is considered "special" because he is white, and lives and feels at home and comfortable with Indians. Most white men, at the time, couldn't fathom being in the same room as an Indian. Hawkeye's most close bonds are with Uncas and Chingachgook, who are both Indian. What makes Hawkeye different to prototypical romantic hero's is that he doesn't care what race or skin color you are, he cares about your individuality. Hawkeye provides a link between the whites and the Indians, with his white skin but his Indian heart."I see nothing, nor do I hear the sounds of man or beast; 'tis strange that an Indian should understand white sounds better than a man who, his very enemies will own, has no cross in his blood, although he may have lived with the red skins long enough to be suspected!" pg. 31. Hawkeye is a cultural hybrid, and is admirable through his unorthodox way of life during the time period, where most people were racist.

The biggest thing that makes Natty Bumpo different from all other humans is that he fully accepts Indians as who they are and doesn't judge them by their skin or that their Indians. This is different because many people discriminated against the Indians his time and era. However he is fully embrace them and learn to live like them and with them. "This beast, I rather conclude, friend, is not of home raising, but is from foreign lands, or perhaps from the little island itself..." (CH 17) This fully shows that Natty Bumpo was able to live with the Native Americans because he feels he's from the same place as them. He feels that since they are humans, they all came from the same place and they should be accepted ad the same and not as aliens.

1.Savage, Charlie. "Analyzing Trump's New Travel Ban". New York Times. online. March 6, 2017 In this article the writer analyzes the new travel ban that was made by President Trump after his first order which caused much uproar during its initial passing. The writer lists out the major differences between the first issue of order and the new issue of order, pointing out both its improvements and what the order is still lacking. While the order is now more specific and not simply banning anyone who comes from the middle east, there are still many issues with the new policy. The language being used as shown in the documents clearly shows that Trump wants to invoke that many of these immigrants are possibly terrorists, simple because of where their from. The order also is not clear on what it will be able to accomplish.
