1) Uncas and Magua have experienced similar plights in losing their tribes, but they handle the struggles differently. Selfless Uncas seeks to aid his companions, while self-centered Magua seeks “What a Huron loves-- good for good; bad for bad!” (104). He only wants Cora as his wife to revenge Munro for whipping him. If she refuses, she dies; if he can’t have Cora, no one can. In contrast, Uncas risks his life for Cora by offering to stay in the cave. While Uncas desires to show respect, Magua desires to gain respect. Magua, a “Huron orator” (250), craves the power of leadership. He initiates the massacre of William Henry with the first war whoop and motivates his fellow Hurons with eloquent speeches. Uncas, a man of few words, lets his elders lead. He doesn’t mention the hidden trail until asked directly, because “where experience is the master, the scholar is made to know the value of years” (213). As made evident by his discovery of the trail, Uncas is observant. Magua doesn’t have the same attention to detail. He fails to recognize Heyward’s painted face at the Huron camp, even though they’re sitting in the same room. These differences drive their actions and distinguish their roles as hero and villain.

1. There a some easily noticeable differences between uncas and magua that we see. Uncas shows that he is always willing to help others in need. He is willing to put his life at risk to save others. On the other hand, magua is a very selfish and self-centered man who will do anything to save himself. Uncas shows his openness towards the whitemen while magua is rigid and vengeful against the whitemen for invading his homeland. Uncas also shows he has a strong love for Cora and that he cares for her safety. Magua is only using Cora for revenge against the whitemen by holding her captive.

1) Uncas and Magua are very different. Uncas is one of the protagonists in the story, while Magua is the antagonist. When it comes to Cora, Uncas is one of her saviors always coming to her rescue (usually from Magua) which ultimately leads into the suggestion of a romance between them. Meanwhile, Magua has no real interest in Cora except that she is his captive and he wants her just for the sake of having her and making her live in fear.

1. One thing that Uncas and Magua have in common is Cora. Through out the book it see that Magua only wants to marry Cora for his own personal gain and to humiliate Monro. However, Uncas has a genuine thing for Cora and loves her but has a tragic death with her. Another thing that they have in common is the impact that settlers had on their tribes. In both of their cases we see alcoholism. Uncas and Magua are opposites in this book this is because Uncas is represented as a "good indian" by everyone but Magua is borderline a "bad indian" or as expressed in the book "Prince of Darkness". Their differences matter because it show that the evil and sorrow one can have of his tribe and the ways they can cope with it. In Magua's case we see him constantly try to get revenge on the Monro's for his beatings. In Uncas case he has a moral compass and he decides to most of the time play by the white mans rules.

1. Uncas and Magua show the two stereotypes that represented Indians at the time. Uncas is stoic, a man of few words, a strong warrior who understands the white man’s culture. Magua is an orator, who refuses to acknowledge the white man’s culture. Magua was happy, but he says that “‘Then his Canada fathers came into the woods, and taught him to drink the fire-water, and he became a rascal.’” (Cooper 101). While some of Magua’s predicament is not his fault, most of it is, but Magua refuses to take responsibility for his own actions, instead blaming the white man, and the Munro family in particular. Another difference is that Magua is more of a leader, while Uncas is more of a follower. This can be seen when he responds to Munro’s plea to save his daughter with “‘Uncas will try’” (Cooper 190). This quote also shows how Uncas and Magua differ in speech, with Magua often giving long explanations, while Uncas keeps it short and to the point.

1. Throughout the novel, we see two very different characters in Uncas and Magua. Uncas is named “Le Cerf Agile,” or bounding elk, and he is swift and strong like a nimble elk. (Cooper 114) This creates a noble image of Uncas, and we learn that he is indeed very swift and agile. He acted as “attendant to the females” while they were eating, which Heyward knew was “an utter innovation on the Indian customs.” (Cooper 79) He did this because of his love for Cora and his caring nature towards those who he is friends with. On the other hand, Magua is called “Le Renard Subtil,” or the subtle fox. (Cooper 64) He is a very cunning enemy of the heroes in the novel, much like a fox. His deceit and trickery in leading Heyward and his companions astray and then telling Cora that she has to “follow, and live in his wigwam for ever,” shows that he really wants to get back at the white men, Munro in particular, for invading his native home. (Cooper 127) He is similar to Uncas in that he wants Cora, but having Cora wouldn’t actually make him happy. He only wants her because then Munro’s “heart would lie within reach of the knife of le Subtil.” (Cooper 128) Magua’s actions are all driven by anger, while Uncas is a much more heroic figure, who is driven to help others who he cares for.

1) Unca's and Magua's differences display the actions and behaviors of the two native groups in this novel, the Mohicans and the Hurons. Uncas is part of the good side, while Magua is the bad guy who fights against them. Uncas shows the characteristics of a gentleman, always rushing to help Cora and Alice. "But Uncas, denying his habits, we had almost said his nature, flew with instinctive delicacy, accompanied by Heyward to the assistance of the females" (pg. 107). He even wants to stay with the women to keep them safe, but honors the wishes of Cora. "Go generous young man" (pg. 71). He and his father are different from the other Indians, they are not "savages" and are able to work alongside the white men. " 'Let us hope, that this Mohican may not disappoint our wishes, but prove, what his looks assert him to be, a brave and constant friend.' " (pg. 45). Magua, however, is a barbaric human. He acts horribly towards innocent Cora and Alice. " 'Then die!' Shouted Magua, hurling his tomahawk with violence at the unresisting speaker, and gnashing his teeth with a rage that could no longer be bridled" (pg. 102). Magua is a man with no honor, even faking his death to escape from Chingachgook. "A lying and deceitful varlet as he is!" (Pg. 106) The differences in Magua and Uncas reflect the authors beliefs about the natives; the white man is good, and the native who helps him is good as well.

1) The differences between Uncas and Magua is their relationship with white people. Uncas being good friends with Hawkeye, a white man, has made him more trusting of white people, so long as they treat him with respect. Magua on the other hand has a hatred of all white culture and had a bad experience by being exiled by Colonel Munro. These differences show in their reasoning for wanting to have a relationship with Cora. Magua wants to marry Cora to essentially get back at the white people due to their fear of interracial marriage. On the other hand Uncas starts to love Cora because of her personality.

1. Uncas and Magua show two different types of Indians: the heroic Uncas and the antagonist Magua. Uncas is seen as a hero in the eyes of the reader. One example is when Duncan states, "...he saved my life in the coolest and readiest manner, and he has made a friend..." after an opposing Indian attack. (Cooper 70). He saves Duncan's life as well as the lives of his group members. Magua, however, is introduced as part of, " a thievish race, nor do I care by whom they are adopted; you can never make anything of them but skulks and vagabonds."(Cooper 30) Magua's derives from the Huron tribes, which Hawkeye and the Mohicans believe as a murderous group of people. This quote in the novel sets up a negative attitude towards Magua as he continues to interact with Hawkeye and his crew. We can also observe the way Magua and Uncas engage with Cora. Uncas is gentle and helpful towards Cora by supporting her as they're running, "and Cora as readily accepted the welcome assistance," in the journey. (Cooper 146). Cora trusts Uncas enough to let him help her run from the attackers, without any expressions of disgust or fear. This differs greatly from Magua's interactions with her. Magua grabs her arm in one situation, "a movement that Cora as firmly but quietly repulsed, " and moves her arm away from him (cooper 101). This apparent disgust shows the lack of trust or affection.

1). Uncas and Magua are two sides of the stereotypical Indian coin. Uncas is a proud and silent warrior, whose actions speak louder than his very few words. "...Uncas stood, fresh and blood-stained from the combat, a calm, and, apparently, an unmoved looker-on, it is true, but with eyes that had already lost their fierceness, and were beaming with a sympathy that elevated him far above the intelligence, and advanced him probably centuries before, the practices of his nation." (pg. 123).

1) Uncas is very quite and overall a very good Indian. He seems to be one with nature and he knows his way around the forest, all the positive stereotypes of an Indian are portrayed in Uncas. Magua on the other hand is very mean. He is wild and crazy and portrayed all the negative stereotypes of Indians, the more savage practices and things like that.

1) The Uncas and Magua have differences when it comes down to the relationship with the white people. Uncas help and respect the white people not seeing them as enemies but as friends. But Magua dislikes the white people mostly because they offered him to drink and when Colonel Munro found out he was whipped publicly. This also includes Cora trusting Uncas with her escape from her attackers because they are helpful and they . As for Magua, Cora does not trust Magua because he wants to get back at the white people any way they can.

1. Although Uncas and Magua are two Native American men they are very different in the way they treat the whites and are painted in the book. In this book Uncas is portrayed as a steady, wise, heroic Native American who is very respectful in his love for Cora. However Magua is seen as the "treacherous companion" (pg.40) who is flighty, untrustworthy, and vengeful towards Colonel Munro. This anger causes him to seek Cora's hand in marriage to retaliate against her father. However, Uncas has genuine feelings for Cora and dies protecting her from Magua. Magua is manipulative and not truly loyal to anyone but himself while Uncas is loyal to his friends and those he loves. Magua is a member of the Huron tribe who are seen as villians and murderous by the whites and the Mohicans. And Uncas is the last member of the dying race of the glorious Mohicans who are celebrated for being wise and brave. Cora has a special trust for Uncas that she doesn't have with Magua she thinks of Uncas as a refined man but of Magua as a savage.

1.Uncas and Magua have very similar interests. However, they approach them very differently. They are both interested in Cora, but uncas is interested because of her beauty and because he is in “love” with her. Magua is interested in Cora because he wants revenge on her father, Munro. Magua wants revenge because Munro had punished, whipped, him for coming into the fort drunk. To get back at Munro, Magau wants to marry Cora. Magua, tried to bribe her into marrying him when her sister and the other people in her party were captured. Her response was, “and what pleasure would Magua find in sharing his cabin with a wife he did not love; one would be a nation and color different from his own? It would be better to take the golf... “ (cooper 331). However, Uncas didn’t make the first comment on cora she has made one on him and said, “Who that looks at this creature of nature, remembers the shade of his skin” (Cooper 162)? I believe Cora was interested in Uncas because he was all the things Magua wasn’t. There differences matter because it determines the outcome of the book. If Uncas were to dislike Cora, would that change his interest in helping the party? If Magua didn’t hold a grudge on Munro would that change the way he approached Cora? The book was written this way because I believe Magua was meant to be the antagonist of the story. Another comparison between Magua and Uncas is that Magua is misleading. He mislead his intentions to help the English party. Uncas, however, was loyal to them without even knowing them. He had helped track and protect them when they needed his help.

1) Uncas and Magua are two very different people because of their personalities. For example, Uncas is referred to as the good Indian, and Magua as the bad Indian. This can be seen through Uncas and Magua's approach towards Cora, the girl of Uncas’ dreams. Uncas' likes Cora for who she is and stays awake with Hawkeye and Chingachgook to protect her and her friends. "David began to utter sounds that would have shocked his delicate organs in more wakeful moments; in short, all but Hawkeye and the Mohicans lost every idea of consciousness, in uncontrollable drowsiness." (Cooper 65) This shows how much he cares for her safety and also, she cares for his safety too. "All eyes were on Uncas, who stood leaning against the ragged rock... Cora pointed down the river, and said-'Your friends have not been seen, and are now, most probably, in safety; is it not time for you to follow?' 'Uncas will stay,'...'Go, generous young man,' Cora continued..." (Cooper 79) Magua is on the other side of the spectrum as he wants to get Cora through savage and violent ways. The only reason why he wants to marry Cora is to get back at Munro for being whipped, he just wants to seek revenge. Uncas and Magua’s differences matter in this book because it shows the Indian we don’t normally see (Uncas) and the stereotypical Indian (Magua).

1.) The Uncas are shown in the book as the noble warrior and the scout. They are the type of native american to attack with silence and respect. While on the other hand, the Magua are people of strong and forceful nature, willing to strike at their foes and show no mercy and remorse. In general values of each tribe they are basically polar opposites. In fact, when introduced, the Magua were described as,"a thievish race" (Cooper chp. 4, Page 37). This shows Hawkeye's negative impression on the Magua and who he believes them to be.

1. Magua and Uncas are different because of their views of white people. Uncas respects and cares for the white people. He shows great loyalty to Hawkeye who is a white man. On the other hand, Magua despises the white men because they first offered him to drink and when Munro found out Magua got whipped. Uncas and Magua represent two different types of Indians. Magua is the stereotypical Indian whiter men feared at the time, being deceptive, sneaky, and "savage". He ended up being a traitor and only cares about himself. Uncas, however, showed a more caring, pure, respectable, and heroic type of Indian. He let his honest actions speak more than his words. They were also different because of how they treated Cora. Uncas actually loved her and had affectionate feelings for her, where as Magua just wanted to marry her to get back at her father. These differences matter because they show the audience that not all Indians are the same, which is what many Europeans thought at the time.

1) Uncas and Magua are quite different. Uncas is very loyal, humble, and he does what he is told. While on the other hand, Magua is a traitor, he is arrogant, he is impulsive, and he does whatever he pleases. Uncas also respects Cora and sees her in a romantic light, whilst Magua just wants to use her to punish Munro, her father. Magua doesn’t respect Cora, he just sees her as a weak girl that he can use for his revenge. These differences are important because this is how the author, Cooper, shows us the differences between the tribes. He wants to show that the Mohicans are more sympathetic and humane, whilst the Hurons are a real representation of what the white man calls a “savage”. In doing this, he creates a separation between the two tribes by humanizing one and villainizing another.

His hatred of white men come from one bad experience. Uncas is considered the good one. He doesn't mind the white man and he always the one to always rush to Cora and Alice's side to help them out. Another way that they are diffrent is the way they love Cora, Uncas really loves her and cares for her even putting himself in danger to protect her and Mangua's mind is set on marrying her and having her fall in love with him so he can make Monroe suffer altough a part of him really likes her but he puts aside so that is dosn't interfere with his plans of revenge. Uncas and Magua are very different people and their different personalities come out throughout the novel. There two ways of thinking greatly influences the way the tribes are run and viewed as. Uncas in reffered to as a good Indian while Magua is seen more as a bad Indian or the Antagonist of the novel. Uncas also helps and respects white people and views them as friends rather than enemies. Magua on the other hand does not like white people because of previous interactions. Uncas accepted the white man's culture and way of life and Magua does not like it and is not open to reason with the whites. A great example is how Uncas befriends Hawkeye, a white man. Magua only wants to marry Cora so he can get back at Munro for mistreating him which is really bad and not right. On the other hand Uncas really likes her and even risked his life for her. These examples clearly show the differences in character and personality between Uncas and Magua.

1. Uncas and Magua are two very different people. In fact, the book portrays them as opposites. The main difference between them has to do with how they treat white people. Uncas is good friends with a white man, Hawkeye. He has built a good relationship with him. However, Magua hates white people mainly because of his encounter with Colonel Munro exiling him. This all relates to Cora because she is white and both men want her for different reasons. Uncas wants to be with her for who she is and not what her race is. He respects white people as long as he is respected by them. Magua wants to be with Cora to get revenge on white people. He wants them to be scared that an Indian can marry a white woman(interracial marriage).

1) Uncas and Magua show two different types of Native Americans, the Mohicans and the Hurons. Magua is known among the Whites and Indians as Le Renard Subtil, meaning “the Wily Fox.” Magua earns this name due to his deceiving and treacherous personality. This is seen when Cora says, “Monster! Well dost thou deserve thy treacherous name!” (Cooper 97). In contrast to manipulative Magua, Uncas is considered respectable, loyal, and strong by others. He is a silent warrior that is willing to help. When Munro asks Uncas in despair to find his daughters, Uncas replies, “Uncas will try” (Cooper 177). The difference in Magua and Uncas can also be seen in their approach to Cora. Magua, seeking revenge on Munro, wants to marry Cora and have her, “live in his wigwam for ever” (Cooper 96). When Cora refuses his proposal, Magua shouts, “Then die!” (Cooper 102). Magua’s rash actions show that he carries no love for Cora and wants only his revenge. On the other hand, Uncas deeply cares for Cora. He falls in love with her throughout the story and helps her whenever he gets the chance.

1) Although both Uncas and Mague's tribes are Native Americans, they seem to be very different people. It's as if they are almost polar opposites. In an overview of the book, Unca is considered the protagonist or "hero" whereas Mague is ultimately the antagonist or "villain." We see this when it comes to their approach toward white people. Uncas is loyal and a good friend to the white, especially hawkeye. With Cora in the picture, Uncas truly loves her for who she is. On the other hand we have Mague. He is overall the stereotypical Indian, being considered sneaky and untrustworthy toward the white men. Mague only wants to be with Cora to get revenge on the white men and not because he truly loves her.

1. Uncas and Magua are two different people, especially in how they handle others. For instance, Uncas is very selfless and wants to help people with their troubles, but on the other hand, Magua is selfish, and only wants certain things for himself. Cora is a prime example of Magua's selfishness because he only wants her as a wife for himself, while Uncas wants Cora out of love for her. Uncas would risk his life for her, as shown when he puts himself in danger by staying in the cave. Magua just wants Cora to get back at Munro. The differences matter because they display the two visions white people had of Natives back then: a deadly, uncivilized "savage", and someone who helps and respects the white people.

1. The personalities of Magua and Uncas are very different from each other, mainly due to one characteristic, the way that they treat white people and how they think about them. Uncas treats the white people well, mainly because of his strong relationship with Hawkeye, who happens to be white. He and his tribe are also seen as brave and wise by the white people. On the other hand, Magua does not like the white people because of previous experiences with them. He and his tribe are seen as warlike and murderous by the white people. This matters because it shows just how much the views of the Native Americans on white people varied, and how the different tribes were seen and acted. Those views varied mainly due to previous experiences, which shows us that the author thinks that people judge a group as a whole based off their first few interactions with members from a group, even if those members are not an accurate representation of the whole group or their beliefs. The differences between Uncas and Magua can also be seen in how they approach Cora. Uncas loves her for her personality and Magua wants to get with Cora to exact his revenge on her father. This again shows the difference in who they are. Uncas is the respectful one who loves people for who the are and Magua is selfish and uses people to get his revenge.

1. The first obvious difference between Uncas and Magua is the tribes that they come from. Uncas is the famous "last of the Mohicans" while Magua comes from the Hurons. Magua is more of the stereotypical racist view of a Native American, while Uncas is a calm warrior. This really shows in the way the treat Cora. Magua is after Cora for the sole reason of revenge. While Uncas is more genuinely kind and caring for her safety and well being.

1. Uncas is can be considered a selfless person. He always puts the needs of the group and especially Cora in front of his own. He is delicate with her and is always ready to save her. Uncas really takes care of the group, “making his fire,” (pg. 174) so that everyone is warm and has food. The others tend to tease him because of these characteristics calling his gentleness and unwarrior like behavior similar to “that of a curious woman than of a warrior on his scent.” (pg. 171). Even though he gets teased, he will “whoop and leap on an enemy” (pg. 158) when the group is in a time of trouble. Magua on the other hand is rude, demands respect, and will do many things for his own personal benefits. The Hurons claim that the “the pale faces made him a villain.” (pg.144). This is all sparked by his relationship with Cora which starts and stops with the fact that she is one of Munro’s daughters and Magua wants revenge. He would even go to such lengths as to force Cora to “live in his wigwam forever” and “draw his water, hoe his corn, and cook…” (pg. 147) just for the pleasure of seeing his enemy suffer.

Even though Uncas and Mangua are both Native Americans they are still able to have very different view points for the settlers. Mangua clearly does not like the white men due to past experiences with him being exiled. This causes his treatment of Cora to be not of love but to get revenge on the white men. Uncas’ view of the white men is the opposite; he has befriended Hawkeye and has come to respect them and seem them as friends rather than competition.

1) In Last of the Mohicans, Uncas can be seen as essentially the "good Indian" through most of his interactions with other main characters in the book, whereas Magua would be the exact opposite, showing the stereotype of the "bad savage". First, the translation of Magua's nickname means the sly fox, in reference to his cunning nature and his ability to manipulate others, which can be summed up in Hawkeye's quote about the behavior of the Hurons, including Magua. "A Huron!" repeated the sturdy scout, once more shaking his head in open distrust; "they are a thievish race, nor do I care by whom they are adopted; you can never make anything of them but skulls and vagabonds" (Cooper 49). However, we see that Uncas exemplifies loyalty and kindness towards his friends, especially the Munro sisters, which can be seen in the quote, "[He] flew with instinctive delicacy, accompanied by Hewyard to the assistance of the sisters, and quickly releasing Alice, placed her in the open arms of Cora" (Cooper 165). Compared to the kindness and grace that Uncas showed Cora when wooing her, Magua was far more direct and extremely forceful in trying to get what he wants out of her, which isn't so much love as an attempt to get revenge on Munro Sr. for whipping him after he was found drunk.

Uncas and Magua are two people that lost their tribes. They are both smart and resourceful people. They also both want Cora. This is where the similarities end. Uncas likes Cora as a person and it's hinted that he also likes her in a romantic way. He will do anything for Cora, when a Huron went to hurt Cora "he sprang toward the defenseless Cora, sending his keen axe" (30%) toward the man. While Magua does not want Cora for her, he wants her to punish her father for whipping him. He wants Munro's heart to "lie within the reach of [his] knife" (28%). Also Magua has no honor while Uncas does. Magua pretended to be dead to escape death, making him a "lying and deceitful varlet" (31%). While "an honest Delaware [like Uncas], being fairly vanquished would have lain still" (31%). One last difference between Magua and Uncas is Magua kills without reason. Magua orders to kill British women and children even after they surrendered. While Uncas has never killed for anything other than reason. All these differences show character. It shows he true intentions of the Indians and moral of them. Most importantly it shows who is a good person and who is a bad one.

1. Although at first glance we see Uncas and Mangua both as two Native Americans expecting them to be similar, we quickly find that actually they are far from it. Especially when it comes to their approach to white people and the "traditional" Native American lifestyle. We first have Uncas; a close, loyal, caring friend of Hawkeye, a white man. A Native American who isn't afraid to show genuine feelings toward white people; both as a friend, seen in his relationship with Hawkeye, and in a more loving manner, as shown in his relationship with Cora. He truly loves her and cares for her, and we see that is true in his protective and compassionate feelings towards her. However on the other hand we have Mangua, a perfect example of the stereotypical, and racist, depiction of Native Americans we often see. He is a violent, rash, manipulative warrior, who uses these characteristics as a way to demand respect. He also has a relationship with Cora, however a very different one. He is only showing that he "wants her" or any sort of interest in her for the sole purpose of revenge. Mangua wants to use his relationship with Cora as a way to get back at Munro, Cora's father. Very different than Uncas motives to build a relationship with her.

While Magura is mentioned as untrustworthy and selfish. Both men share different experiences with white people. Magua doesn't like white men because of his banishment and mistreatment. This lead to the marriage proposal to Cora, to get revenge at the white men. Uncas shows loyalty to his white friend Hawkeye, benefiting from this friendship with white men.

1) Although Uncas and Magua are both Native American, they are still completely different from each other. In the book Uncas is portrayed as the good Indian who helps out the main characters and is described as the good guy. On the other hand, Magua is portrayed as the stereotypical "evil" Indian of the story. As well as this, they also come from completely different tribes. Uncas is the last pure-blooded Mohican, and Magua is a Huron. They also both view white people in almost complete opposite ways. Uncas befriends the whites and protects them while Magua despises the whites based on bad past experiences. This really shows in both of their approaches to Cora. Uncas genuinely likes her and just wants to protect her out of the goodness of his heart and Magua just wants to marry her so he can get revenge on Colonel Munro.

2.The landscape is both a helpful and harmful character. It provides the main characters with food. It hides the main characters from harm and allows them to track and spy on their enemy. But it also is harmful too, because it allows their enemies to hide and track them as well. Not only that the landscape is a dangerous place that has an "intermediate forest"(34%). It's an confusing and endless place where without a guide one could easily get lost. That being said the people that exploit and uses the landscape are the Indians. They can navigate through the endless maze of landscape and it's said that "Indians know the nature of the woods, as if it might be from instinct" (8%). Not only that the Indians exploit the trees and rocks that make up the landscape to build weapons to kill others.

1. Uncas and Mangua would usually be assumed as very similar, especially considering the fact that they are both Indians, they are actually quite different. The first part comes through their interactions towards the white race. Uncas, as someone who genuinely cares for the white people. as seen in his relationships with both Cora and Hawkeye. And then Mangua, a complete polar opposite of Uncas. He is very rash, violent, and perfectly encapsulates the racial stereotype of the Indian population.

1.) Uncas and Mangua are both Native Americans but that doesn't mean they are the same. These two are completely different people for example their outlook on whitemen. Uncas is accepting and is willing to try becoming friends with the white folk but Mangua despises them and wants nothing to do with them what so ever. In this certain situation Mangua wants to marry Cora in order to get revenge or to use her as just a toy, not treating her like a real person. Unlike Uncas who genuinely loves her and wants the best for her no matter what happens. Uncas is always trying to find the calm and nice way to get out of certain situations, but Mangua is very rash and violent. Having them being this opposite of each other is actually perfect for them being a pair, this way they could see both sides of situations and are able to balance each other out.

1)Looking at Uncas and Mangua you'd think they would be similar but as we read on there differences are shown greatly. The biggest difference being the interaction with the white people. Uncas treats the white people with respect and is Seen as selfless and helpful. Mangua on the other hand Mangua does not like the white people and does not have a good relationship with them. He is seen as a sneaky typical Indian who is selfish. Cora being a good example to show these twos true characters. Uncas seeing Cora as who she is and actually loving her vs Mangua who only wants to marry her for revenge on the white people. There differences matter because it shows how white people looked at Indians but not just in one way there were two sides to their relationships with them.

1. Uncas and Magua are two very different characters that represent the polar opposites of their society. Uncas is stoic, brave, and treats his companions with respect. He selflessly volunteers to help lead the sisters to help find their father, and again helps when the sisters are taken by Magua. This shows how much he cares about the safety of others. When it comes to Cora, he treats her with respect and deeply cares abut her. He does not force her into anything, unlike Magua, who uses Cora's love for her sister to try and force her to marry him. She refuses several times, and Magua kidnaps Cora and Alice and takes them north. Magua represents the other side of his society: he is cunning, devious, arrogant, a skilled orator, and does not seem to acknowledge or respect other cultures. This is shown when he volunteers to lead Cora, Alice, and Heyward through the woods and then gets them lost on purpose. He always seems to be one step ahead, and he capitalizes on Hawk-eye's compassion when Hawk-eye let him live after a fight. The way each of these characters die also shows their differences. Uncas dies while bravely fighting to avenge Cora, while Magua dies because of his own arrogance: trying to jump over a crevice that was too wide, failing, and falling to his death.

1) Uncas and Magua are different from one another because Maguas acts based on revenge and Uncas acts based on his own decisions. Magua just wants cora because he wants to see her father Munro suffer where Uncas wants Cora because of his love and he shows it by fighting back for her. Magua and Uncas are also different because Uncas is calm and cunning where Magua is aggressive and crude. The Author portrays Magua as the "bad guy" and Uncas as the "good guy." Uncas showed his love by chasing after Magua after he captured the two girls

1. Magua and uncas may seem similar but they are actually very different. Magua is known to be very fiery and cunning. Since he is the chief of the Hurons, he is one of the main enemies of Hawkeye. "A Huron!" repeated the sturdy scout, once more shaking his head in open distrust; "they are a thievish race, nor do I care by whom they are adopted; you can never make anything of them but skulls and vagabonds" (Cooper 20). Where as Uncas has shown to be more loyal and courageous. ""Uncas is right! it would not be the act of men to leave such harmless things to their fate, even though it breaks up the harboring place forever" (cooper 25). Both of them are in love with Cora however they both approach her differently, which affects how she feels about each of them.

Representative of two different tribes, Uncas being a part of the Mohicans whereas Magua, otherwise known as Le Renard Subtil or the Subtle Fox, is a delegate of the Hurons, they contrast in character as well as tribe. Earlier on, Hawkeye depicts the Hurons as “a thievish race” (Cooper 37) and the Mohicans as one of “honesty” (Cooper 38) which couldn’t be truer for both Uncas and Magua. Magua, much like his name, is manipulative and acts out of revenge towards Colonel Munro, Cora and Alice’s father thus conflicting with Uncas’ kind heart who acts out of selflessness. The best way that they contradict each other can be seen in the way they treat Cora. Magua sees Cora as more of a trophy to “draw his water, hoe his corn, and cook his venison” all so that Colonel Munro “would sleep among his cannon, but his heart would lie within reach of the knife of Le Subtil” (Cooper 110). She’s a power play in his mind, to be used to cause the most grief towards someone he’s still vengeful towards. Uncas on the other hand is a lot gentler and accepting towards the white man which can be attributed to his close relationship with Hawkeye. In a time of need, Munro being devastated by the loss of Cora (not by death) Uncas steps up and says he “will try” (Cooper 197) despite the potential consequences of his efforts. In opposition of each other, Magua is self-centered and angry, and on the other hand Uncas is noble and calm. Despite Uncas not being in a position of power, both are leaders, however in the hierarchy of the tribe, Uncas wouldn’t be seen as one although his actions do convey authority.

1) Uncas and Magua are both native american, but they are very different. They come from two different tribes; Magua is a Huron and Uncas is a Mohican. In the book they are portrayed as each others' opposites. Uncas is a quiet leader and is a very composed person, while Magua expresses his emotions and anger freely. Magua seeks revenge on Munro by taking his daughters. His deal to Cora is to die or live in "the wigwam of the Huron" (Cooper 209), whereas Uncas selflessly tries to save the sisters at any cost. Instead of scalping his enemies after saving the girls, he comforts them, "denying his habits" (Cooper 134). Uncas and Magua's differences matter because it shows that there is good and evil in all societies.

1. When it comes to the Uncas and the Mangua could be assumed to be similar to one another since they are both Native Americans and one would assume that they would be similar to each other because of this, but they are very different. Mangua is Huron and Uncas is Mohican, and as such both of their tribes have different sets of standards. One of these is their treatment of whites. Uncas seems to actively care for white people, which is seen with his relationships with Hawkeye and Cora. Mangua could be described as an opposite, the other side of the coin. Mangua is probably a perfect example of someone who perfectly fits the stereotype of Native Americans as he is shown to be a rash and violent individual.

1.) Uncas and Mangua are the same only in that they are both native americans and live off of the land in Northern America. They belong to different tribes. Mangua belongs to the Hurons a brutal and unforgiving tribe. Uncas belongs to the Mohican tribe which is a more loving and compassionate group of people. These differences can be seen when these men encounter the Europeans that have begun to populate their land. Uncas greets these people with kindness by showing them how to use the land to their advantage. He even befriends the white men which is shown through his friendship with Hawkeye. When Uncas meets Cora and Alice he acts as their caregiver risking everything for their safety. When Mangua meets the white men he reacts in the exact opposite manner. He meets these people with anger and aggressiveness showing no mercy as he attacks them multiple times and captures them. After he captured Cora and the rest of her camp, hungry for revenge against her father he demands that she either marry him or she will die. Where as Uncas risks his life for Cora and does anything to deliver her and her sister safely to their father.

1. Uncas and Mangua are different in many ways. Mangua plays opposed to Hawkeye in the sense of his heroness to the Indians. He is always looking to seek revenge in the way i view him in the book. His approach to Cora is more harsh and she is seeking revenge on her father because of the things he did to her. Uncas he accepts all and exceeds Hawkeye in that sense he is open to all races and wants to help everyone. Uncas falls in love with Cora who is a white woman. Their differences reflect on how they act in the world with the different people. Uncas cares for the people while Mangua takes them for granted.

Uncas and Mangua are polar opposites, of truth or of manipulation. Uncas is a man with a gentle heart who truly cares for people and their culture, like the white men who he gets to know throughout the story. Mangua is colder, with a drive of anger shown through the book. They both have separate motives towards Cora as well. Cora is a symbol of white people in general for this story. Mangua sees white people as Something to be manipulated as a weapon or a liability to hurt others, while Uncas tries to understand her and love her for who she is, wanting nothing in return.

Uncas and Maguas, both chiefs, have experienced similar predicaments. However regarding Cora, Uncas and Magua differ greatly. Magua only desires Cora for revenge and to restore his lost pride. Uncas on the other hand sincerely loves Cora and risks his life to help her. Their differences in actions define one as a hero and the other as a villain.

Uncas and Magua are two Native Americans who have lost their tribes, but have survived using their intelligence and resourcefulness. Their backgrounds seem similar, but they are very different in other ways. Their relationships with white people are completely opposite. Uncas leads the white people selflessly; this is because skin color does not alter Uncas' opinion of a person. This is shown by his relationship with Hawkeye, and his growing affection towards Cora. Magua has had a bad past with white people. He was exiled by the Colonel Monroe, Cora's father, and wants revenge. This is displayed when he kidnaps Cora.

1) Although Uncas and Magua may seem similar because they are both Native Americans who have no tribe, they are two of the most different characters. This can be seen through their actions. Uncas acts to help which can be seen in the way he helps Cora, Alice, Heyward, and other members of the group. Magua, on the other hand, acts out of anger and revenge. He wants to hurt the group because he's angry. Another way the differences can be seen is in their actions toward Cora. Both men want her, but for different reasons. Uncas wants her because he genuinely likes here, while Magua wishes to wed her to anger her father. Uncas is one of the last of the Mohicans because he outlasted everyone else. Magua has no tribe because he was exiled from the Hurons. In short, Uncas is a hero in this novel, while Magua is the villain.

1. Magua is a very selfish and unpredictable character. This is only said because of his relationship with Cora. Magua is keeping her prisoner due to his revenge on the white man. Seeing that anger obviously motivates Magua his anger is usually but to an end when confronted with Cora, and the sympathy he has on her. Uncas is almost the opposite of Magua heq seems to think about others before himself. Throughout the novel Uncas carried feelings for Cora even though it was against the laws of his closed-minded society. Uncas was the character the changed the most throughout the book becoming a leader.

1) Two big differences between Uncas and Mangua are their opinion on White people and their desires for Cora. Uncas has shown that he respects Hawkeye and the other White people, as well as showing care for their wellbeing. On the other hand, Mangua has shown time and time again that he truly despises White people, and that he has no respect for them. When talking about Cora, although both Uncas and Mangua desire and want her, it is for very different reasons. Uncas loves Cora for her beauty and would do anything to be with her. 1. Magua and Uncas fit into the theme "good vs. evil". Magua is cunning and vengeful. He understands other humans but he uses this knowledge in a selfish way to manipulate others and get what he wants. He threatens Cora when she turns down his marriage proposal. However Uncas is the opposite. He cares about his daughter, never drinks and is a man of few words. He loves Cora and never threatens her.

1) Uncas is the son of Chinachgook and is Mohican Indian. He defies social boundaries and falls in love with Cora who is a white girl. His feelings for her are genuine and he really cares for her and wants her to be safe. Magua also wants to marry Cora, but it is for selfish reasons as he is only trying to fear and offend Monroe. He creates a seemingly abusive environment surrounding his relationship with Cora and becomes extremely angry when is turned down when asking to marry her. Magua and Cora's relationship serves as a example of why white people fear an Indian man with a white girl.

Uncas is Chingachgook’s son and is the last member of the Mohican tribe. He is most described as noble, proud and self-possessed which are keys traits in a leader while Magua is very different. 1. Mangua does not like Hawkeye because of his feelings towards the Indians. Managua is a harsh person who is angry a lot. When Managua approached Cora he was very harsh due to the fact of what her father did to her. Uncas is more open and excepts everyone but he praises Hawkeye which means he accepts all races. 1. There are three major differences between Uncas and Magua, 2 of which do not require extensive detail. The first difference is that Uncas is among the protagonists of the novel, and Magua is the antagonist. The second difference are the character's respective tribes. Uncas is one of the last of the mohicans, like the title, and Magua is a Huron, an enemy tribe. The third difference is each of the characters relation to the character Cora. Uncas shows actual fascination with Cora, and have romantic feeling exist between them. "Uncas acted as attendant to the females --- That while he tendered to Alice the gourd of sweet water and venison in a trencher, neatly carved from the knot of the pepperidge, with sufficient courtesy in performing the same offices to her sister, his dark eye lingered on her rich, speaking countenance." (Cooper 51) Magua, on the other hand, does not feel any real connection with Cora. He tries to get Cora to marry him to take revenge on Colonel Munro for teaching him to drink alcohol and getting exiled from his tribe. "'When Magua left his people, his wife was given to another chief; he has now made friends with the Hurons, and will go back to the graves of his tribe, on the shores of the great lake. Let the daughter of the English chief follow, and live in his wigwam forever.'" (Cooper 104) His desire to marry Cora will, in his mind, cause great psychological harm as it plays on the white fear of interracial marriage. Comparatively, Uncas and Cora's relationship is meant to give off a message of a better hope of relations between race.

1)Uncas and Magua, although very different characters, actually have a lot in common. On one hand, Uncas is a selfless and spirited native with a heroic image. He cares about Cora and has real feelings for her. He strives to do what is right and has a very strong set of morals. Magua on the other hand is on the more devious side of the spectrum. He has malicious intentions and cares more about revenge and self benefit, meaning he lacks basic morals. When it comes to Cora, Magua only wants to marry her to get revenge on colonel Munro and keeps her prisoner.

1) there is a vast difference between Unca and Magua. For starters, Unca is more gentle and has very high morals and principle. He has very pure intentions with Cora he has a genuine feelings of love for her and wants the best for everyone around him. This contrasts with Magua, because Magua has a totally different mindset. He has very low principal and virtually no morals, his intentions with Cora are nothing but malicious and he only wants to marry her to get revenge on her father. He harms her, takes her prisoner, and overall is a more abusive person. However in some ways they are similar as well. They both have a heroic image to upstand, even though they are considered heros for different reasons.
